Cisco Surveillance Introduction

Hello and Welcome to the Cisco Video Surveillance Technical Blog!

My name is Ryan Peterson and I work for a Cisco Partner (Data Systems Worldwide) in their Las Vegas branch office.

We are one of the first partners to begin selling Cisco's Surveillance product line and as of today, our largest install is right around 1000 cameras.

After using Cisco to do 1000 camera installations, you get to know the ins and outs of that product line. I would like to share that knowledge to those interested in what Cisco is doing.

So welcome to my blog, I look forward to answering any questions you may have about the product.

  2. Cisco's Broadware is a step back from Milestone, Genetec, and all the other state of the art VMS systems. I can't see how companies fall for this useless product.

It is obvious that your last encounter with this product must have been ages ago since the Broadware name hasn't been around in years now. The reason companies are getting excited about Cisco is because of their development capabilities and the many options it has for integratrion with outside systems. Nothing against Genetec or Milestone, but why not take a look at their market positions.

In any case, I would never take a position of stating something was useless, it is short-sighted and unvetted.
